EMAAN, which is established in many cities across Canada, promotes education, a fundamental principal in Islam. Numerous mosques, organizations, Muslim businesses, parent and individuals contributed funds to sponsor the aforementioned awards at the gold, silver and bronze levels.

 

As a sponsor you will:

EMAAN has developed the Partners in Education Plan, which assists in helping talented young students pursue their dreams of becoming professionals by raising much needed scholarship funds. Partners in Education contribute to the EMAAN Scholarship Funds Account at the various sponsor levels:

Platinum          $1000 and over

Gold                $500 up to $999

Silver              $300 up to $499

Bronze             up to $300

These funds are utilized to sustain current Special Recognition Trophies and to acquire Trophies, Awards, and grant Scholarships for qualifying students. On average, 300 Academic and Special Recognition Awards and four – $1,000 Scholarships are awarded. The scholarships are awarded to Top Academic Students and Students of the Year to be used towards their post-secondary education. The surplus revenue is accumulated into bequest funds to sponsor goals such as the Umrah Award, which entails the trip of a lifetime, for up to four recipients, to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina. Appointed presenters distribute these awards on behalf of sponsors. Sponsor names are announced during the event, printed in the program booklet, and displayed in a power point presentation.

Benefactors of EMAAN are donors, who through their generosity and on-going commitment provide the resources necessary to prepare young students for their future careers across Canada. By contributing to this unique program, you help ensure that Muslim youth acquire skills vital to their knowledge and develop future Community Leaders, Muslim scholars, teachers, scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, physicians, etc. The financial leadership of Benefactors acts as a source of inspiration to the entire Muslim community, and encourages many other sources of giving in the community.

Educational Muslim Achievement Awards Night (EMAAN) is a program than honours, recognizes and celebrates Muslim students for their achievements while simultaneously giving them opportunities to demonstrate excellence over the past academic year. Initiated in 2002 in Edmonton, the program aims to encourage our youth in the community to seek knowledge by furthering their education while also contributing positively to society. With a significant and diverse Muslim population, we hope that EMAAN Toronto will prove to be a unique and unforgettable experience for all those who attend.

EMAAN will include academic awards for all high school students as well as for those graduating from high school. Students who have excelled in various subjects throughout Grade 12 will receive special awards for their achievements. For a complete list of available awards please visit our Awards page.

EMAAN also hopes to serve as an alternative to prom which is often the only form of celebration for those graduating from high school. However, Muslims students generally cannot attend these events due to its many non-Islamic tendencies. As a result, we hope that EMAAN will allow students to celebrate their achievements throughout high school in a formal Islamic environment that provides entertainment as well as the celebration often associated with prom.

Below are the awards available for EMAAN 2012.

ACADEMIC AWARDS: 

Honours

  • average mark of 85-100% in all subjects
  • all students must complete the “Grade Table” and submit a copy of their first semester report card with the application form
  • if emailed, students must email a updated copy of their official transcript as well as their report card containing second semster midterm grades or interim grades for full year courses

Top Academic Student Award

  • one award for each of the following grades: grades 9, 10, 11 and 12
  • awarded to students who obtained the highest average in all subjects during the current academic year

SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARDS: 

English Award

  • one award for each of the following grades: grades 9, 10, 11 and 12
  • awarded to the student who has obtained the highest English mark out of all applicants in the current academic year

Sciences Award

  • one award for each of the following grades: grades 9, 10, 11 and 12
  • awarded to the student who has obtained the highest Science average out of all applicants in the current academic year

Mathematics Award

  • one award for each of the following grades: grades 9, 10, 11 and 12
  • awarded to the student who has obtained the highest Mathematics average out of all applicants in the current academic year

Social Sciences Award

  • one award for each of the following grades: grades 9, 10, 11 and 12
  • awarded to the student who has obtained the highest Social Sciences average out of all applicants in the current academic year

Graduates Award

  • awarded to all students who will be graduating from high school in the current academic year
  • applicants must submit their complete transcript
  • applicants must have completed 22 credits, their community service as well as their Literacy Assessment in order to be eligible
