Twitter Prizes

The twitter award will be presented to an individual who is actively tweeting at us, and retweeting us. Emaan will be tweeting daily, and your job is to retweet what you like and tweet @EMAANOttawa with any of your emaan filled experiences in the day using our hashtag #IhaveEMAAN. A winner, who will receive a $25 giftcard, will be chosen based on the following criteria:

  1. Follow @EMAANOttawa (5 points)
  2. Re-tweets (3 points each)
  3. Interactions- Replies and tweeting at us (2 points)
  4. #iHaveEMAAN (1 point every time you use the hash tag)
Instagram Prizes

The instagram award will be presented to an individual who is actively liking our pictures, commenting, posting pictures and tagging us or using our #iHaveEMAAN, as well as sharing our event poster. Do you have what it takes to be the instagram winner? A winner, who will receive a $25 gift card, will be chosen based on the following criteria:

Ottawa Muslim Association (OMA) Living Quran scholarship ($500)

When Aisha was asked to describe what the Prophet was like in his everyday life, her answer was that he was a living Quran. This award will go to someone who exemplifies the best reading of the Quran – a reading that leads to action. The recipient of this award is someone who exemplifies the spiritual and intellectual messages of the Quran and has connected them to actions in his/her everyday life. This award focuses on the quality of the implementation of the message, not the amount of memorized Quran.

Dr. Rania El-Hawary Community Service & Youth leadership Award ($500)

A student who has had the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of others, thereby enriching his/her own. The ideal candidate would have spearheaded a volunteer initiative as well as taken part in well-established non-profit foundations. This candidate is generous with his/her time and efforts and dedicated to giving back to the larger community.

Turkish Airline Community Service & Youth leadership Award (1 round-trip ticket to Turkey)

This candidate is generous with his/her time and efforts and dedicated to giving back to the larger community.

Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) Journalism & literature scholarship ($500)

Muslim Association of Canada

This award will be presented to the student who have a passion for writing, published or otherwise. Applicants must possess a talent in creative writing and/or English literature.

Requirements:
  • Resume
  • Three writing samples (preferably published)
  • 1 page essay entitled ‘Community’
  • 1 school faculty/staff reference

Ottawa Muslim Professors Science Scholarship ($500)

A hardworking dedicated student with an academic bend towards science. This student has participated in the Ottawa Regional Science Fair (ORSF) and has adopted 3 of the following 7 challenge criteria for the Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF).

They are:

  • Discovery – Create new fundamental knowledge based on your curiosity by asking a question and using the techniques of scientific inquiry to develop an answer.
  • Energy – Improve our use of current energy sources, enable the transition to alternative energy sources, or reduce our energy footprint.
  • Environment – Reduce our impact on, improve our understanding of, and ensure the quality of water air, soil, and the diversity of living things.
  • Health – Increase our understanding of the human body, or apply science and technology to improve health, control disease, or support an aging population.
  • Information – Enhance communication and our use of information using digital and networking technologies, or applications of new media.
  • Innovation – Combine scientific principles with your creativity to develop a new material, structure, device, or system to solve a problem or improve an existing solution.
  • Resources – Develop better ways to use our natural resources that provide sustainable sources of food, products, or prosperity.

Kanata Muslim Association (KMA) Athlete of the year scholarship ($500)

Kanata Muslim Association (KMA)

This candidate must be physically active and registered on more than one school sports team. This candidate must also show how s/he has assisted in active programs as a volunteer. Whether it was to coach a team or train individuals on the importance of good nutrition, this candidate must show how they used their passion for sports and a healthy lifestyle, to help others.

Ottawa Muslim Professors Student of the year scholarship ($500)

A giving student who has captured the admiration and respect of students and teachers alike. This student enthusiastically participates in the organization and participation of school events, clubs, mentorship programs and committees. This positive student’s outlook and motivation serves as inspiration for her fellow students who hope to follow in this student’s footsteps of proactive school and community involvement while simultaneously maintaining a competitive honors standing.

Ottawa Muslim Dentists Arts Scholarship ($500)

Islam has a rich history in the arts, and the recipient of this award would be passionate about the arts in general and well-versed on the topic of arts as it relates to Islamic history. The recipient of this award would demonstrate how the arts has enriched his/her own life while at the same time, enriched their understanding of the world around them. The recipient of this award would show how they have shared their artistic talents with others through volunteer efforts, art exhibits and the like.

Ottawa Muslim Association (OMA) Most Improved Marks scholarship ($500)

Students submit their applications along with transcripts of their marks from 1st and 2nd term to show a measurable improvement has been acquired in their studies.

Ottawa Muslim pharmacist Best Mother Award ($500)

This is a new award to recognize the distinguished mothers in our community. anyone (regardless of age and school year ) can nominate his/her mother for this award to recognize her. (the award receipt is the mother not the applicant).

This award is to recognize an importance value of our community, which is kindness towards parent (birr al Waledain).

Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) Best Teacher Award ($250)

The teacher may nominate him/her self or get nominated by a student, a parent, a fellow teacher, or a school administrator or principal.

Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) Best Muslim Student Association (MSA) Award ($250)

Muslim Association of Canada

This award is to recognize the best Muslim Student Association (MAS) in Ottawa. The Nominated MSA can be part of any university, college, school, or educational institute in Ottawa. The MSA can be nominated by both its administrators or its members.
