Short Film
Description
The objective of this competition is to encourage the creative expression of Islamic culture through audio-visual media. Teams will submit their films for pre-screening and the approved films will be presented and judged at the competition. There will also be an online component of the competition where youth may submit their short films online and winners will be chosen by voting from their peers.
Competition Rules
Teams:
- Contestants may chose to produce their films independently or in groups
- All members of the team must be between the ages of 13-20 years inclusive
Judging Criteria:
- Points will be awarded for the following characteristics:
- Creativity
- Thoughtfulness/relevance of message
- Flow/pace of film
- Production quality (editing, lighting, sound, props, etc.)
- Quality of Acting (if applicable)
- Points will be deducted for the following:
- Inappropriate content/music
- Failure to adhere to format requirements (listed below)
Content:
- Films may be of any genre (fiction, comedy, documentary, animated, etc)
- Film content must be free from all of the following:
- Violence
- Foul/offensive language
- Sexually suggestive content
- Any other content that may be considered offensive or inappropriate
- The judging team reserves the right to disqualify films for inappropriate content as they feel necessary
Format:
- Films must be no less than 1 minute and no longer than 5 minutes in length from beginning to end, including opening and closing credits
Submission:
- All films must be submitted online (YouTube etc..) before the deadline
- Extra points if you include a brief summary including the following:
- An explanation of the message that the film aims to portray
